Kazakhstan and the United States have taken steps to reinforce their strategic partnership, focusing on economic collaboration and regional development. On October 19, in Samarkand, Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tileuberdi met with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to discuss enhancing bilateral relations, with an emphasis on trade, investment, and cooperation in key sectors such as energy, critical minerals, digitalization, and transport.
This meeting coincided with the C5+1 Ministerial Meeting, which assembled the United States and the five Central Asian countries to address regional economic development, trade, investment, and connectivity. During the discussions, both sides highlighted the significance of expanding economic ties and attracting investment, while also advancing joint projects under their strategic partnership framework.
Tileuberdi underscored the opportunities available for US investment, particularly in energy and transport infrastructure, and stressed the potential for leveraging advanced technologies. The conversation also revisited agreements from a previous meeting in November 2025 between Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and former US President Donald Trump, aiming to build on those foundations.
Participants at the C5+1 gathering emphasized the importance of strengthening transport and logistics networks, diversifying supply chains, and promoting joint initiatives in energy, critical minerals, and digital innovation. The meeting concluded with a joint statement, reaffirming a commitment to long-term cooperation and the implementation of agreed initiatives.
